“Recruiting Safely and Fairly” for voluntary organisations (19 Oct in Redhill)

This may be useful for local sports club safeguarding & volunteer recruitment officers.

Voluntary Action is working with NACRO to run a training day on “Recruiting Safely and Fairly” for voluntary organisations who are recruiting volunteers. I think this may be a relevant course for many of the sports organisations where children are involved and many of the activities are volunteer led.

The training will cover the role of Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks; when they are and aren’t needed; what their limitations are and other ways to ensure that you are recruiting volunteers in a safe but also fair way. The training takes place on 19th October in Redhill and is subsidised by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner so costs just £40 (normally £199-£229).
