The membership at Reigate Squash Club is so thankful for the key role that Arthur has played over so many years in inspiring so many young players through his high energy, positivity and kindness.
He is 85 years young, and has been a member of the Club for some 50 years. His daughter Alison was a national squash champion and one of the highest ranked players in the world.
Over the last 15 years he has selflessly given up nearly every Saturday to help with the Club’s junior coaching programme. He regularly goes on court with some of the youngest junior players, most of whom have never played squash before. Through his positive attitude and relentless encouragement he has inspired so many junior players to take up and as importantly really enjoy playing squash. Furthermore thanks to his involvement, Reigate Squash Club has over this period regularly had more junior players playing for Surrey than any other club in the county including many with much greater resources.
Our warmest thanks to Reigate & Banstead Borough Council for sponsoring this award.
