Sylvia Collingwood, Redhill Bowling Club

Sylvia was introduced to Redhill Bowling Club by her late husband and she first became a Social Member in 1977.  Having enjoyed watching the bowls that year, she decided she would like to join in and learnt to play in 1978.

Since then she has been a very active Member in the Club for many years becoming a Committee Member for the Ladies Section, following which she was voted in as Ladies Captain and held this post for several years.  She was then elected as Ladies President in 2003.

She has also been involved in Surrey Bowls for many years.  She won her County Badge in 1992 and had the honour of representing Redhill Bowling Club at the County Finals in Leamington in 1992.  She became Redhill Bowling Club’s Surrey Delegate in 2000.

She is now 82 years old and over the last few years her health has prevented her helping so much but she continues to support the Club and encourage others to play and help.  Even following a hip operation, she is still playing in matches and this year managed to win the Club Ladies’ Championship.
