Kate Holah, Earlswood Running Club After gaining an athletics qualification in 2018 Kate guided a small group of family and friends through a beginners' running programme. Buoyed by their weekly improvement and enthusiasm she established a running club and offered an open structured Couch to 5k schedule designed for new runners to gradually increase their running time and reduce their walking time over 9 weeks to prepare them to run 5k non-stop. Merstham Cricket Club 2019 has seen this club reach new heights having nearly collapsed at the end of the 1990. The effort put into encouraging local people to get involved has seen it field 5 Saturday sides, 3 Sunday sides, over 250 juniors, including two girls’ sides and a disability squad all playing competitive cricket within the Surrey leagues.
