2020 Sports Awards Winners...
Dear Members and Secretaries
This year our Sport Awards took on a different approach to allow for the current restrictions we are under.
The Awards were targeted towards the activities that you all were able to achieve within the sports criteria and the support you were able to give to the sports community.

Dani Christmas - Update...
Many of you may know one of our local athletes Danielle Christmas, whom we have supported from an early age with her athletic career.
‘Dani’ attended our 2018 Sport Awards and gave a presentation.
She went on to attend one of the first Sport Camps hosted by Dame Kelly Holmes.
In 2018, Dani took her enthusiasm toward the sport of Cycling and joined a professional Belgian Cycling Team, Lotto-Soudal.

Sylvia Collingwood, Redhill Bowling Club
Sylvia was introduced to Redhill Bowling Club by her late husband and she first became a Social Member in 1977. Having enjoyed watching the bowls that year, she decided she would like to join in and learnt to play in 1978.

Kate Holah, Earlswood Running Club
After gaining an athletics qualification in 2018 Kate guided a small group of family and friends through a beginners' running programme. Buoyed by their weekly improvement and enthusiasm she established a running club and offered an open structured Couch to 5k schedule designed for new runners to gradually increase their running time and reduce their walking time over 9 weeks to prepare them to run 5k non-stop. Merstham Cricket Club
2019 has seen this club reach new heights having nearly collapsed at the end of the 1990. The effort put into encouraging local people to get involved has seen it field 5 Saturday sides, 3 Sunday sides, over 250 juniors, including two girls’ sides and a disability squad all playing competitive cricket within the Surrey leagues.

Reigate Rhinos, Reigate Lawn Tennis Club
Team Tennis is a national league event with county, regional and national level tiers and this team has won through from the regional tier to the national level of the LTA Team Tennis Competition. This is equivalent to a football club who has won promotion to the Premier League.

Sam Cates, Redhill Bowling Club
Sam started bowling at the age of 13 and began to play Club matches and competitions in his second season.
He reached his first final in 2012 and in 2014 joined the Committee as Junior Representative. He remains a Committee Member to date. Also in 2014 he became a Green Steward which involves opening and closing the club, preparing the green equipment and helping to run the bar.

The membership at Reigate Squash Club is so thankful for the key role that Arthur has played over so many years in inspiring so many young players through his high energy, positivity and kindness.

Benjamin has been one of the U6 coaches for Reigate Football Club for the past 4 seasons. The Club’s 32 U6s train every Saturday in Priory Park and he is there every week in all weathers. The children love his enthusiasm and he makes even the coldest or wettest days fun. We are seeing record attendances and a large part of this is due to the children wanting to see their Coach.

Reigate Priory Cricket Club u14 Surrey Junior Invitation League Team
Playing at the highest level for their age of club cricket in Surrey, this team went through the entire season unbeaten, finishing top of their league with 30 points, 6 points clear of second place. Affiliation to the District Sports Council is open to any sports club or other organisation in the Borough with a substantial sporting interest. Annual fee - £10 due by 1st April.
The District Sports Council encourages clubs to attain Sport England's Clubmark accreditation and Active Surreys Gold, Silver or Bronze awards. Clubs with one of these awards have the appropriate badge shown in their entry on the list below.
